Our Ultrasonic Cleaning Services

For over 25 years, Western Ultrasonics has been a trusted provider of ultrasonic cleaning services for a wide range of parts and components across multiple industries. Throughout this time, we have continuously refined our processes, developing custom cleaning procedures to address unique and demanding applications.

Our precision cleaning solutions are effective regardless of component size or contamination severity—restoring parts, tools, and components to like-new condition, extending service life, and improving overall operational efficiency.

Common Parts and Components

  • Air filters

We clean air filters to prevent efficiency loss for building ventilation, truck engines, turbine and compressor process inlets and more

    Air filters ultrasonic cleaning
  • Air fuel ratio (AFR) catalytic elements

We clean gas compressor catalytic elements to control monoxide and nitric oxide output. Ultrasonic technology is used in every step of the cleaning process.

  • Diesel particulate filters (DPF) and diesel oxidation catalysts (DOC)

We apply pressure blasts and extreme heat (Donaldson system) to clean diesel particulate filters and diesel oxidation catalysts

    DPF DOC ultrasonic cleaning
  • Bearings

We clean bearings to prevent seizing and serious performance problems for process machinery

    Bearings ultrasonic cleaning
  • Carburetors

We clean carburetors to prevent performance problems for small engines like lawnmowers and rototillers

  • Circuit boards

Dust and “chemical dirt” prevent cooling of circuit board components, causing heat buildup and higher amperage draw. Our cleaning process prevents efficiency loss for electronics.

  • Engine components (carbon and grease removal)

We restore automotive engine components (like intake valves, fuel injectors, cylinder heads and blocks) to spec or near spec

    Engine components ultrasonic cleaning
  • Hydraulic components

We clean hydraulic filters, pumps, reservoirs, valves and motors to preserve hydraulic fluids and prevent performance problems

    Hydraulic components ultrasonic cleaning
  • Permanent stainless steel filters

Our cleaning process restores stainless steel filters (gas compressor filters, oil filters, final filters, glycol filters and process glycol filters) to spec thousands of cycles

Air Fuel Ratio (AFR) Element Cleaning

Developed over 19 months of evaluation and adjustment, our custom AFR ultrasonic cleaning method helps provide a thorough clean to large catalytic converters. Our ultrasonic cleaning process removes all sulphate ash from air-fuel ratio catalytic elements while minimizing active-site loss. The AFR cleaning process benefits include:

  • Low-cost compliance
  • Reduced nitric oxide and monoxide emissions
  • Thorough and complete drying to avoid damage on startup
  • Timely turnaround
  • Manufacturer reviewed and approved

What Cleaning Solutions are Used in Ultrasonic Cleaning?

At Western Ultrasonics, we have tested, refined, and developed cleaning solutions that are some of the most effective and efficient in the industry. Our formula emphasizes the use of D-Limonene-based cleaners as the additive is lighter than water, solubilizes and disperses oils and grease more readily.  At lower density, the overall mass is reduced, allowing the available power to be used more effectively. Our cleaning solutions have been just as reliable as our machines, and have provided complete cleaning and removal of contaminants and chemical build-up for our customers for over 25 years.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Ultrasonic cleaning is generally considered safe and non-abrasive. However, items made out of aluminum and soft stones (pearls, opals, emeralds, turquoise, amber, coral, ivory, jet, shell cameos, and lapis lazuli) can be damaged over time. Items such as wood products, soft plastics/rubber, watches, live electronics, flammable liquids, and corrosive/harsh chemicals are not suitable for ultrasonic cleaning.

  • No. Generally, plastics, rubbers, and polymers are not strong candidates for ultrasonic cleaning.

  • Most medium to large components are cleaned within 20–30 minutes. Western Ultrasonics sets our cycle times to ensure thorough, complete results — not just a surface clean. Every part that leaves our facility has been treated to the same uncompromising standard, with no contaminants or build-up left behind.
